US MTBE spot price fell by 0.09 cents on
May 18 compared to gasoline futures, while the differential remained unchanged. US Gulf Coast spot MTBE
was down 0.09 cents the day, at 256.58 USG cents/gal FOB USG. The differential
remained at RBOB minus 0.25 cents/gal for the front-month. In response to the two Texas refinery fires that occurred in
the past week, gasoline futures have retreated after a sharp rise in the
previous session. Nonetheless, June RBOB
closed at 256.83 Cents/gal on May 18, 4.5% higher than the previous week. Marathon refinery, Galveston Bay, and Valero refinery,
Corpus Christi both caught fire on May 15, and 17. It is not clear what the long-term impacts of these fires...
