China Stable amid weak downstreamAsian orthoxylene was valued up $51/mt
weekly at $1161/mt FOB Korea, March 31, due to demand for arbitrage cargoes to
provide European markets with supplies. Prices were last assessed at $1470/mt
FOB AR, March 30. The
average bid for May loading FOB Korean cargo was $1,160/mt, while only one
offer was received at $1,190/mt. According
to market sources, supply from South Korea was very limited. Only one of the
two producers could supply spot depending on margins. The downstream markets showed that pthalic anhydride was
falling both internationally and in China's home market. There is also a
decrease in alternative PA feedstock, naphthalene. Sinopec raised its domestic price by Yuan 100, to Yuan
