The Asian paraxylene price rose on May 25
in line with the rise in crude oil prices. The PX price was also supported by a rise in the operating
rates of polyester plants in China. Asian
paraxylene was up $2.50/mt for the day, at $987/mt. The July ICE Brent crude futures contract at 4:30 pm
Singapore time was up $10 cents/b compared to the previous Asian closing price
of $77.76/b. Sources said that the
operating rates of Chinese polyester plants increased. A trader in China reported that the operating rates for
Chinese polyester plants were around 90% this past week, up from 88.8% the
