Only bids for the next month will be heard / May offers are close to 1 cent less than June

On April 29, US Gulf Coast spot prices for methanol were stable. The inter-month structure was assessed as equal, with only bidding heard for June. The price of prompt- and ahead-month methanol was 100 cents/gal ITC. Bids for June were in the range 91-92/gal ITC. The US methanol spot market experienced a sharp increase in activity for forward-month shipments in late April. A contango market structure was observed between May and early June. The sellers have been the ones to lead, trying to get rid of spot cargoes by June. According to feedback from the market, three trades totaling 30,000 barrels or 3,783 mt were done between April 19-24.
