No deal heard on Day / Source : Downstream demand is low, but stable

The European spot methanol price was stable on May 2, despite a quieter market and a feedback of unchanged fundamentals after the Labor Day holiday, which took place in Europe on 1 May. The price of T2 methanol FOB Rotterdam was Eur305.50/mt unchanged from the previous day. On the day no deals were done, down from 2,000 mt traded the previous day. The market fundamentals remained unchanged, with planned turnarounds in Norway at Equinor and Texas at Natgasoline continuing to be key supply factors. Northwest European demand remained relatively subdued. A source had previously suggested that the market cycle was at a low, and consumption levels were lower than expected.
