The European naphtha markets on May 15 showed a slight crack with correspondingly steeper spreads for the next three months, indicating heightened sentiment in the market. Prices of naphtha rose as the summer driving season increased demand for naphtha in gasoline blends. The spread between the front-month gasoline and the equivalent of naphtha swap was $211.50/mt. This is up $6/mt from the previous day. Market on Close's cargo market was active with both offers and bids. Recent refinery news reported that Petronor’s 220,000 b/d Bilbao started a maintenance program and upgrade of its conversion units. This will continue until the second half July.
