The backwardation on the European naphtha markets remained high and remained largely unchanged for the day. The crack spread shrank slightly showing relative strength. East-West spreads continue to shrink as the arbitrage between Europe and Asia remains largely closed. At the moment the pull of naphtha for gasoline blending is "still looking poor". It's "perplexing." Meanwhile, petrochemicals demand will also be weaker in line with seasonal trends. The market was still elevated despite steep market backwardation, and the strong demand for naphtha on the prompt. The spread between the front-month NWE Eurobob petrol swap and its equivalent front-month swap of naphtha fell to a 2-month low.
