The European naphtha market ticked upwards on that day. A large number of bids were registered during the Market on Close assessment. The bids received in the MOC showed a higher value on the day. This pushed the assessment to a $14.75/mt increase over the April 30th swap for the end-of-month. The petrochemical market was reported to be strong. "Naphtha is mainly supported in Europe by petchems ...(But I believe that as soon as the petrochemicals demand disappears or some naphtha supply is restored, then naphtha is going to find its way into the blending pool," stated a trading source on the European market.
