Naphtha Backwardation Falls / Resupply from Algeria to ARA

The European naphtha market was moderately weaker on May 3, despite the high levels of activity on the bid-side during the Market on Close assessment. One source on the European market said, "I think that the gap between gas and nap will widen once again with some resupply." The spread between Eurobob FOB June swap and equivalent Naphtha Swap has narrowed, dropping 75 cents/mt down to $215.25/mt. The price has dropped more dramatically over the last week. According to Ship Tracking at Sea, the volume of Algerian naphtha that was loaded into the ARA region in the first week of April was strong. 420,200 mt were reported.
