Naphtha Backwardation Weakens / Refineries blend in more naphtha

The European naphtha market weakened slightly on April 30. Crack spreads were down 10 cents/b for the day. East/West spreads for the front month ticked upwards on April 30 after having fallen sharply in the previous two weeks. The East/West spread rose to $13.25/mt on April 22, up from $20.75/mt. Sources said that a very tight component market continues to cause refiners to produce naphtha. According to one trading source, this "disappear[s] into the mogas pools." The market for heavy naphtha in the 80s/mt range to open-specification was also booming this week. Recently, the market has been more active in discussing condensate-naphtha with an open specification.
