On the European xylenes markets, supply for mixed xylenes remained healthy despite mixed feedback from demand. The market participants noted that the demand for mixed-xylenes from gasoline blenders was strong this week, despite changes in gasoline summer specifications. However, chemical demand on downstream markets such as paraxylenes and orthoxylenes continued to be weak. A producer stated that "gasoline blending has overtaken chemical." Arbitrage opportunities were not open for mixed xylenes going to the US, so market players saw improved product availability in Europe and prices dropping on the week. A trader stated that there was "a lot of material on the market".
