Asian MTBE : Higher prices despite slow demand / Gasoline crack against Brent Crude Strengthens Day / Singapore traders' low purchasing appetite

On July 12, Asian MTBE Fob Singapore was $19/mt more than the previous day, at $851/mt. The MTBE Factor FOB Singapore remained unchanged at 1.07. During the MTBE Market On Close assessment, there were no offers or bids. The RON 92 price increased on the day, to be assessed at $94.00/b from $92.06/b. The crack between 92 RON gasoline and Brent crude oil increased to $7.97/b from $6.48/b. MTBE prices in China were flat, but with the higher 92 RON gasoil values of the day, Singapore-based traders stated that they would buy MTBE at 92 RON plus 5-7 cents/b. One trade source estimated this to be about $831/mt for July's cargo. China-based traders estimated that FOB Singapore cargoes were worth around $820/mt. Singapore's appetite for MTBE was not strong.
