Asian MTBE: Falling $24/mt due to lower crude and thin demand / Gasoline margins widen to $6/b / FOB Singapore Factor at 1.058

The Asian MTBE price fell by $24/mt from $760/mt to $760/mt, FOB Singapore on August 8, while the MTBE factor FOB Singapore remained unchanged for the day and the week at 1.058. In the week beginning August 5, there was little trading, as arbitrage between China and Straits had closed. Instead, producers in China focused on domestic sales. FOB Singapore was quiet as well, with no offers or bids emerging during the Market on Close process. MTBE FOB Singapore rose $20/mt Aug. 8 as crude oil prices recovered from earlier lows. The spread between the October ICE Brent futures and RON 92 FCB Singapore gasoline also increased by 14.75 % to $6.77/b on August 8.
