MTBE Asian: MTBE prices fall $26/mt in a week due to lower upstream costs / Petronas closes MTBE Unit in Sep

FOB China offer price drops Asian MTBE FOB Singapore fell by $26/mt in a week, to $742.50/mt August 23, as demand was sluggish. Upstream crude oil futures were hovering around $80/barrel. FOB Singapore's marker increased $11/mt in one day. The MTBE factor remained at 1.058 over the course of the week in a thin spot market. The spread between October ICE Brent crude futures and FOB Singapore RON92 gasoline closed at $5.50/b on August 23, down 4.84% from the previous day. China's domestic and FOB China price fell by $25/mt during the past week. The marker is now $750/mt.
