MTBE was up $54.50/mt last week to $978.50/mt FOB Singapore on March 24, due to
strong demand and extensive trading activity. Lower naphtha prices caused
MTBE demand to rise in the week of March 24, resulting in a gasoline
RON92Naphtha spread that grew by $3.55/b week to $26.25/b March
24. Sources said this helped to increase MTBE demand within the Asian
region. The arbitrage window from China to Singapore closed up to this
week and April MTBE supply was expected be limited. A trader stated that trade
activity would increase if the window remains open. Because MTBE is a
popular blending ingredient used in higher gasoline grades, there will be
