The April 16 buy indications for ethylene in Asia were unchanged, with some buyers citing the persistently tight margins of derivative production. We are maintaining our buy indicators at the same level as we have lost money on downstream production, and cannot afford to pay higher prices for ethylene. A buyer in Northeast Asia said, "The near-term outlook is not very optimistic. We are still cautious." There were a few buy indications at $900-915/mt CFR Northeast Asia but no firm fixed price offers. Selling indications were made at premiums between $10 and $20/mt CFR NE Asia. Some participants blamed a lackluster demand for the overall negative sentiment. The benchmark C+F Japan Naphtha was $12.50/mt more expensive than the previous day, at $709.875/mt as of the close on April 16, Asia....
