The Asian butadiene market was stable on
March 28, despite a large price gap between sellers and buyers. Both the buying and
selling indications are more than $100-150/mt apart, as neither party was
willing to begin price negotiations. Buyers
were reluctant increase their bids in the face of the bearish outlook on
butadiene downstream markets. Sellers were
waiting and watching as the volatile crude oil market and lower steam cracker
operations meant that buyers weren't willing to increase their bids. May ICE Brent futures increased $2.94/barrel on the day to
$78.53/b at 4:30pm Singapore time. According
to reports, a tender was being used to offer a spot cargo on an FOB Southeast
Asia basis. The tender result was not
