The European Naphtha Market was in a
bearish mood on May 9, with no bids being made for the fifth day running. Three offers remained
outstanding in the MOC. The market was still long. Sources say that the weak sentiment is also reflected in the
prompt prices, which are still in contango despite a wide discount on naphtha
compared to gasoline, due to the tightness of other blending components. "There is no point buying naphtha, if it can't be
blended with alkylates, reformates and octanes (boosters)", a source
stated. Trading sources reported that
Motor Oil Hellas, a refinery in Greece producing 180,000 b/d, was performing
maintenance on its Corinth refinery. The
