Asia MMA/PMMA Weekly: Prices rise amid shortage of supply / The lack of acetone as a feedstock reduces MMA production / India/SEA Buyers unable to afford the current price levels

The Asian MMA market prices rose from week to week due to a shortage of cargoes and a stable demand which was not met by many buyers. The tight supply in the entire MMA industry has been caused by two factors, according to a source. The price of a may iso-tank shipment was around $2,400/mt, CFR Southeast Asia. However, traders in Asia said that cargoes for May were scarce and June cargoes even more so. Southeast Asian and Indian buyers, who are price-sensitive, cannot transact at these levels, traders said. There was also a $50-$70/mt spread between bulk and iso-tank cargoes. Bulk cargoes were cheaper than iso tanks. A China-based producer offered limited cargoes in May at just under $2100/mt. However, a trader stated that June offers were around $2200/mt...
