Asian MMA & PMMA: Prices drop as China's domestic prices fall / China's demand is weaker than expected as stocks increase / China's MMA Operating Rate Falls to Around 45%-50%

Prices for Asian MMA fell $65/mt in the past week to $2,000/mt, CFR China on Sept. 11, and $5/mt to $2,220/mt, CFR Southeast Asia. A market source said that the fall in China's prices was partially due to a weaker crude market, but it was also due to a growing MMA inventory within the country and slow demand coming from markets such as Southeast Asia and India. The source said that both the domestic and export markets had a sluggish demand, which was why Chinese prices were falling. FOB China offers were reported to be between $1,900 and $1,950/mt for Octoberloading cargo, according to market sources. Domestic prices also weakened during the week.
