Asian MMA & PMMA: Low Demand Sends Prices South / MMA Offers Fall to Around $1,400-1,420/mt FOB China / LG Chem MMA closes due to power failure

The Asian MMA market saw a rapid drop in prices, with China's prices dropping $80/mt to $1,410/mt Cfr China by the 26th of February, while Southeast Asia's prices also fell $80/mt to $1,520/mt Cfr Southeast Asia. Sources claim that demand was weak worldwide, and the destination markets were not able to support prices. This led to a fall in domestic China and FOB China. Last week, FOB China cargo offers for March fell from $1,450-1,480/mt to $1,400-1,420/mt. Sources said they had heard that prices as low as $1,400/mt for FOB China were possible in the current market.
