Early this week prices in the Asian MMA markets saw a significant erosion as Chinese domestic prices fell and October cargo offers were reported to be below $1,800/mt FOM China. Asian MMA prices fell by $122/mt week-on-week to $1,768/mt FOB China on September 25. For the Southeast Asia market they were down by $602/mt, at $2,088/mt. According to sources, the sharp drop in prices on the Asian MMA Market was due to the abrupt and large fall in China domestic prices. Other sources said that this was coupled with a lower demand from deep sea cargoes coming from the US and EU.
