On August 28, the Asian methylmethacrylate market was facing a tight supply from China due to a number of Chinese producers going on shutdown, and lagging demand from Southeast Asia. Sources said that FOB China would offer around $2,200-2,300/mt in the next few months, while North Asia's offers will be slightly lower. CFR China MMA assessment dropped $30/mt in a week to $2,070/mt CFR. In Southeast Asia the assessment fell $30/mt to $2,230/mt CFR. According to sources, the Southeast Asia MMA industry has been relatively quiet recently. According to one source, the demand for MMA in Vietnam has dropped by 30%-40% compared to normal.
