Prices of European benzene fell on May 10
as the demand was limited. The
forward delivery for five to 30 days laycan at $981-1000/mt. This is down $1/mt
from the previous day. A source stated
that the European benzene markets were facing a thin demand, and there was a
slight length. There are multiple offers on the market as the arbitrage into
the US has been closed, and European material doesn't go there. Another source, however, said that benzene supply is
"worse" despite the slow benzene market demand. The trader stated that "lower olefin demands and lower
aromatics leaving the refineries result in less benzene." According to the trader low run rates of paraxylene resulted
