Minimal business activity is heard / Participants wait for styrene settlement

In the week before April 24, there was little activity on the European polystyrene markets. A trader reported that the market was largely quiet, as most participants waited to see what happened with styrene. A trader said that the demand for polymers was not as high as usual, and customers were not buying their normal quantities. The trader stated that "PS is a material that struggles with demand." Styrene prices increased by Eur44/mt at the beginning of April. Producers then targeted PS price increases, but with different degrees of success. A trader stated that the market fundamentals are "very low demand and prices are set deal by deal", even by domestic producers.
