Saudi Arabia's polypropylene market increased in the week to June 12, due to increased market activity before Eid al Adha celebrations and higher logistics costs. This price is below producer's indications of $1,020-$1,100/mt. Prices were raised as producers tried to pass on higher logistics costs and container freight rates to buyers. Higher lead times for popular export destinations such as Turkey have forced some producers into more expensiveyet faster routes such as shipping materials via trucks to Jeddah ports and then shipping out of Jeddah. A market source said that while this route reduces lead times from three months to three weeks, the cost to ship material is $40-$60/mt higher, bringing the total shipping costs to $120-$150/mt.
