Saudi Arabia's polypropylene industry was slow in the week ending Sept. 4, due to a weak demand from Turkey, India and Africa. High freight costs and higher feedstock costs also contributed to this. FOB Saudi Arabia polypropylene spot price was $970/mt September 4, unchanged from the previous day and down $20/mt for the week. This is below the producer's indication of $980-$1,000/mt as well as below the trader's indication of $980-$1,000/mt. The demand for popular export destinations like Turkey, Africa and India was weak as markets were oversupplied, or there was a lack of buying appetite due to difficult economic conditions such as high interest rate.
