Mexico Weekly Recycled Pet: Markets edge up on strong demand / Persistent rains affect bale supply / Strong demand for post consumer bales

The Mexican market for recycled polyethylene saw a rise in the week ending September 4 due to a tight supply and high demand. According to sources on the market, heavy rains that have been persistent in Southeast and Central Mexico has affected the availability of PET bottles. Participants noted an increase in demand and a tightening of supply, as recycling companies are expanding their production lines. A seller stated that there was not enough material available on the street and the market. Post-consumer PET bales were priced at Mexican Peso 14,75/kg, ex-works Central Mexico, on Sept. 4. This was up by Peso 0,95/kg for the day and the week.
