Mexico PE: Prices remain stable despite low trading activity / Prices flat across grades / Sources report delays in railway transit

In Mexico, the price of polyethylene was flat across all grades for the week ending August 28 due to limited trading. Sources said that orders for polyethylene were slow because buyers were waiting for the price to drop and stretching their inventory as much as they could. According to sources, while there was some uncertainty among customers about the railway situation last week in the US and Canada but no immediate impact on prices of PE in Mexico, this was due to the fact that certain customers were also uncertain. Local traders said that the increase in PE prices by producers and the peso/US dollar exchange rate were affecting downstream converters, who are unable to adjust their selling prices fast enough.
