Asian methanol closed the week of Nov. 8 with a stable price, as participants in the market attended a major conference on methanol held in Singapore. CFR China methanol prices rose by $5/mt per day, and were up $3/mt for the week. They reached $292/mt at the beginning of November. There was also a lot of interest in cargoes arriving at the end December. This week, concerns about winter methanol supplies from Iran to China increased as Sabalan Petrochemical Company shut down its 1.65 million tons/year methanol facility on October 28 due to gas supply cuts. Zagros Petrochemical Company operated its 3.2 million mt/year methanol plant at 50% due to a gas shortage.
