Asian Methanol prices: CFR China prices rise by $4/mt due to bullish fundamentals / China's outlook is buoyed by stimulus measures / Weak downstream demand for Taiwan / Constrained supply in South Korea expected over Oct., Nov

The dollar-denominated China Methanol price was buoyant during the week ending Sept. 27, as China's Central Bank announced a wide package of stimulus measures designed to revitalize the economy. Mid-week, some cargoes were traded at $289/mt CFR China. By Sept. 27, offers and bids rose to $295/mt CFR China. Market sources reported that the fundamentals of the Chinese methanol markets were balanced due to healthy methanol-to olefin operating rate and a drawdown on methanol inventories in the week ending Sept. 27. Longzhong Information Services reported that methanol stocks in East and South China dropped 4.63% over the past week, to 952,000 mt. According to market sources, Taiwan's fundamentals are also bearish due to the large methanol inventories and a sluggish demand for downstream products such as acetic, methyltertiary-butyl ether (MTBE),...
