India Methanol Prices Rise $5/mt Amid Geopolitical Tensions – Ex-tank offered at Rupee 0.75-1/kg in Kandla/Mumbai Ports - Kandla port inventory improves

The Indian methanol spot market has seen a noticeable increase in trading activity on Oct. 3. This is due to the increased geopolitical tensions across the Middle East. India's domestic Kandla ex-tank offers are widely quoted at Rupees 26,75-27/kg, an increase of Rupees 0.75-1/kg since October 1. Data showed that this would translate to $295-$298/mt based on importparity. Dollar-denominated discussions have also increased with a deal for 4,000-mt at $290/mt CIF India, for a Saudi cargo loading in October. Sellers said they placed limited October cargoes into India due to weaker domestic prices. However, they heard improved demand for cargoes delivered in November.
