US MMA prices rise by 1 cent per week amid rising pricing indicators / Weak seasonal demand for downstream derivatives / Methanex announces December North America methanol contract for 250 cents/gal

In the US, methyl methacrylate prices rose by 1 cent during the week ending Nov. 27, despite higher price indications. Prices for domestic trucks ranged between 100 and 110 cents/lb, while bulk imports of isotanks cost 90 to 95 cents/lb. A source reported that downstream demand for MMA in the paint market had decreased, "which has been typical historically", a source stated. Winter months are often a time when construction activity, which is a good indicator of paint demand, decreases. A second source stated that Q4 was generally slow due to seasonality. Third source stated that fundamentals had not changed, and the market was still being described as "super-long".
