European Methanol prices slip amid lower offers; fundamentals largely unchanged / Minimum 2,000 mt traded per day and 12,000 mt each week / European methanol industry survey indicates higher prices for Q4

The European methanol price spot dropped on Sept. 20 in line with lower deals and offers for both September and October. The T2 methanol price FOB Rotterdam was Eur347.75/mt. This is down Eur2.75/mt for the day. On Sept. 19, no deal was heard. Two deals were completed on this day with a total of 2,000 mt. In the past week, at least 12,000 mt of trade was recorded. This is down from 20,000 mt the previous week. An earlier trader stated that higher spot prices could be discouraging some market activity. The results of the survey conducted ahead of the Q4 European methanol contracts price negotiations indicated a rise in prices for the fourth quarter.
