India Methanol: Surges $5/mt amid tighter December supply / Ex-tank offers rise to Rupee 27-27.50/kg / Storage issues at Mumbai port amid healthy prompt arrivals / Limited Iranian offers for Dec

Methanol prices in India rose on the day Nov. 22, with fundamentals mostly bullish amid expectations of a tighter Iranian supply moving into December. Domestic ex-tank prices rose Nov. 22 with offers heard in the Rupees 27-27.50/kg across ports, up by around Rupees 0.50/kg on the day. Bid levels were heard around Rupees 26.75/kg, while some trades were heard concluded at Rupees 27/kg from Kandla and Mumbai port. Some market sources said bulk volumes were mostly trading in the range of Rupees 26.50-26.75/kg. The price rise was mostly due to fewer Iranian shipments scheduled from Iran in December, but the arrival of several Iranian cargoes in recent weeks was likely to keep port inventories elevated at least until early December, sources said.
