Length of July market wipes China's gains in the first week / China's coastal methanol inventories rise 4.45% in a week / Thin Trading Activity in India

Prices for Chinese methanol closed the week May 31 mixed on the back positive economic data. However, the length of the market in July weighed heavily on the market. Meanwhile, prices for other Asian regions remained relatively stable due to the absence of market participants who were in Seoul for a major chemical conference. Data from China's National Bureau of Statistics, May 27, showed that the government's stimulus for property and the 4% increase in industrial profits during April boosted the Chinese market. A deal was done earlier in the week at $314/mt CIF China. However, the bullish momentum was limited to immediate spot deliveries.
