Asia Methanol prices remain stable or soften on thin trade / Market participants concentrate on term negotiation / Europe-China, India arbitrage open at $160-$163/mt

Market sources reported that Asian methanol closed the week Nov. 29 with prices being stable or slightly lower, as spot talks wind down towards the end of the calendar year. Sources said that participants in Southeast Asia, South Korea, and Taiwan were focused on term negotiations for 2025. The trading activity in China remained muted during the week of Nov. 29 except for one deal at $296/mt CIF China on Nov. 27. The 5,000 mt of cargo will arrive in China between December 15-18. A few fixed-price bids were heard after the deal. Formula-based, cargoes that arrive in China in December are heard at a premium of 1.6%-1.8% to the ICIS Specific Origin CFR China Methanol price. CFR China methanol is down $4.25/mt from the previous week to $292.75/mt, Nov....
