Asian methanol closed the week of Dec. 6 with mixed results. CFR China prices rose on the backs of rising domestic prices, which were boosted by tight supply in the inland, while CFR Korea prices remained steady amid weak spot demand. the CFR China methanol price $2/mt higher day on day at $288/mt and CFR Southeast Asia methanol stable on the day at $345/mt. the CFR Korea and CFR Taiwan markers steady week on week at $339/mt and $335/mt, respectively, Dec. 6. Market sources saw some interest to move spot cargoes from the Middle East to Europe as an arbitrage of around $165-$177/mt opened up between Europe and China.
