Asian Methanol Prices Closed Mixed on February 28. Prices in China were stable for the second day in a row, but prices in Southeast Asia, South Korea, and Taiwan increased due to tight supply in the region, which was further exacerbated because of a Qatari methanol producer's force majeure. Qatar Fuel Additives Co. announced a force majeure in an official notice on February 25 due to a critical breakdown on the 23rd of Feb. at its 1.05 million mt/year Mesaieed methanol facility. This limited production and caused a significant reduction in production. Due to production problems in Southeast Asia, the methanol supply for March and April is also expected to be limited.
