Asian Methanol: CFR China rises $2.50/mt due to trading activity and tight supply / Limited availability of Iranian cargoes for Jan / Petronas No

The Asian methanol price closed the week at a higher level due to tight supply in the first quarter of the year and limited availability of Iranian cargoes for China. A cargo due to arrive between Jan. 25 and 31 was traded at $309/mt CFR China on Dec. 20. This is higher than the deal of $308/mt CFR China made on Dec. 18. The domestic methanol price in east China traded at Yuan 2.635-2.650/mt ex tank Dec. 20, a Yuan 10/mt decrease day-on-day. This was influenced by the May Zhengzhou Commodity Exchange's methanol futures, which closed Yuan 19./mt below the previous day's Yuan 2.593/mt. Market sources say that the plans of methanol to olefin plants for a shutdown in early January during Lunar New Year has had a moderate effect...
