Asian methanol prices closed the week soft to stable as supply returned to Europe and an unexpected rise in China's coastal methanol stock weighed on domestic prices. In Europe, methanol imports were heard to be arriving from the US, Venezuela and Trinidad & Tobago, with shipments going to Poland, Sweden, Norway, and the UK. Inventory levels at a terminal in Rotterdam were heard at around 70%-80%, up from around 60% at the end of 2024. T2 Rotterdam price at $430.28/mt on Jan. 16, down $20.64/mt week on week. Methanol inventory along China's eastern and southern coasts rose 7.9% on week to 914,700 mt on Wednesday, Jan. 15, data from Longzhong Information Services showed.
