activity, US Gulf spot methanol was stable on February 28th. Sources said that methanol plants were operating at high capacities due to
low natural gas prices in the US. Sources said that producers are trying to fill their inventories while gas
prices remain low. Although downstream demand has yet to pick up significantly, there have
been no problems with methanol production facilities. A second source stated that the US market was long due to strong run rates
and slow demand. The spot market is very thinly traded in these conditions. Everyone is
