The price of polyethylene terephthalate in Asia closed at $20-$25/mt more than the previous week due to higher feedstock costs and freight rates. PET FOB Northeast Asia was up $25/mt from the previous week to $900/mt, while FOB Southeast Asia PET prices were up $20/mt. Monoethylene glycol was up $7/mt week over week and $4/mt day on May 29, at $532/mt, CFR China. MEG prices are still below the $555/mt/ CFR China high reached in early February, but the slow rise since May 10 has caused some concern for producers who have made offers for PET.
