MEG offers heard at 2-3 cents higher than sources / Nan Ya delays EG2 restart until late May

Monoethylene glycol spot prices in the US rose by 2 cents during the week ending May 10. This was due to higher offers for different volumes, and lower levels of pricing for co-products. MEG offers for rail and truck cargoes weighing 1-2kt were 22 cents/lb, which is in line with spot cargoes weighing 10-15kt. Nan Ya Plastics has rescheduled the restart of its EG2 plant, originally scheduled for March 31, to May 25. The company announced this on May 8. Sources on the market said that the restart may take "until May's very end." Since the news that the plant had been idled in the first quarter, market participants have been eagerly awaiting its restart.
