US polyethylene-terephthalate producers
waited for a feedstock contract settlement from the previous month in the week
leading up to June 7. Sources
expect at least a 4-cents-per-lb decrease from the April contract price of 64
cents/lb for May paraxylene, and intermediate purified Terephthalic Acid. Sources said that a double month settlement in May and June
could also be possible, resulting in a further drop. Since more than a decade, the US PX contract has been
unpredictable. There have been delays in settlements and sometimes months are
