Spot benzene market activity has increased, and various sales have been reported. The business began in the late afternoon of May 15 with 25,000 barrels sold for 403 cents/gallon on a FOB basis, based out of Houston Texas City. The sale, however, is not understood to be a reflection of the current market. It was rated at 404 cents/gallon for May that day. On May 16, 25,000 barrels more benzene were reported to have been sold at 399c/gal DDP Houston Texas City in May loading. Other trades had been heard to have taken place at the same price earlier in the day. The increase in trade failed to support the price, and the tradable value for May along the USG coast dropped in line with the confirmed Houston Texas City...
