M1 June Saudi Aramco CP swap steady / LPG Middle East-Japan Freight expected to increase in the near term

The Saudi Aramco Month 1 June propane contract swap was at $539.50/mt, $3.50/mt more than the previous May 15 price and $40.50/mt less than the May term CP. This assessment was based upon a June FEI/CP swap that was heard at $594/mt, and a June FEI/CP swap at $54.50/mt. The backwardation for the June-July Aramco CP swap remained at $9/mt on that day. Market participants in Asia expect that freight rates along the Persian Gulf to Japan route will continue to rise in the near future.
