Market sources reported that the Asian naphtha markets remained stable on May 27, as end users emerged to meet first-half requirements for July. Meanwhile, participants in the market continued to monitor increasing LPG prices which could increase naphtha's attractiveness as a feedstock. Brokers maintained the backwardation structure as they set the June-July Mean Japan naphtha Swaps time spread to $7.75/mt at mid-morning Asian trading May 27. This was unchanged from the previous closing. The LPG price was supported by the high demand for Chinese propane dehydrogenation facilities, which led to a reduced discount between naphtha and propane.
