After a standing offer and a trade during
the Market on Close process, on May 8, the US Gulf Coast MTBE differential
compared to RBOB front-month futures dropped below 2 cents/gal. MTBE plus 1.70 cents/gal at NYMEX for June RBOB,
down  0.75cents in one day. The
differential last fell on Oct. 22, 2020, when it was discounted from RBOB
futures. Trafigura sold Lyondell Basell 25,000 barrels at
June RBOB + 1.75 cents/gal. At the end of MOC, an offer at June
RBOB + 1.75 cents/gal remained outstanding. The day's price
of the  outrights rose by 7.51 cents to
247.26 cents/gal, as futures prices increased more than the differential. The June
ROBOB increased 8.26 cents, to 246.16 Cents/gal.
