The price of translucent pellets made from
European recycled LDPE fell by 90 euros/mt in the week ending May 31 as the
market heard lower offers. The market has been reporting
unusually low demand for many uses, such as construction, agriculture and
packaging. Hyperinflation in Europe is causing consumers to
spend less on non-essential items, like gardening or DIY home projects. LDPE
recycling companies are currently operating in a very challenging environment. Some
recyclers are selling at current prices, even if they're losing money, to try
and recoup enough cash to keep the business afloat. "Recyclers
worry as polymer prices continue to fall...and summer shutdowns are coming up
